Addressing the Impact of COVID-19 on Behavioral Health Webinar

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced behavioral health programs to alter many of the traditional tools of behavioral healthcare delivery at a time when such services within community health centers are in high demand.

Evidence of spikes in stress, depression, anxiety, and substance misuse is mounting, as people continue to feel the physical, emotional, and economic effects of the pandemic. Health centers committed to integrated health are trying to make sense of these dramatic changes.

As we hope and plan for a post-pandemic future, these key values and strategies must be at the core of our efforts: The patient is at the center, the integrated primary and behavioral health workforce is the foundation of our system, and the way forward must incorporate a serious appreciation of the resources required to rebuild and enhance these systems to support patients.

This webinar focuses on considering and addressing the behavioral health consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, it will address the following questions:

  • What do we do now to help behavioral health patients and staff cope with increased need and what role will telehealth play in meeting these needs?
  • How will our health center use lessons learned during the pandemic to reconfigure our behavioral health program and systems? How will telehealth services play a role in that reconfiguration?
  • What opportunities, particularly opportunities arising from the delivery of telehealth services, for improving our service provision and supporting our patients and workforce have been driven by the pandemic?
